Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, is stepping down as her conservator. Ever since Britney’s public breakdown in 2008, Jamie was in complete control of her finances and person down to when she could leave her home and with whom. In the official documents Jamie’s lawyer wrote: “There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr Spears as the Conservator of the Estate and it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms Spears’ best interests. Nevertheless, even as Mr Spears is the unremitting target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests. Regardless of his formal title, Mr Spears will always be Ms Spears’ father, he will always love her unconditionally, and he will always look out for her best interests.” Britney believes her conservatorship is abusive and compared it to sex trafficking. “The only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking … The people who did this to me should not be able to walk away so easily … I’m not here to be anyone’s slave,” she told the judge. Jamie is known to have been abusive towards Britney. A witness says they thought Jamie was going to say, “Baby… We love you, but you need help,” “But what he said was, ‘Baby….you’re fat. Daddy’s gonna get you on a diet and a trainer, and you’re gonna get back in shape.’” The witness also heard Jamie call Britney a “terrible mother.” Jamie has even been known to be heard saying, “I am Britney Spears!” Britney has been locked in her life as a prisoner and slave to the people around her while she signs their checks. This conservatorship could not end sooner for Britney and all of her supporters who just want her to be able to live her life.

Stars such as Paris Hilton, Linsdey Lohan, and Kim Kardashian have all made their support for Britney Spears known. Even stars such as Elon Musk and Grimes have voiced their support for Spears amid this battle for freedom. Britney is currently considering a sit down with Oprah Winfrey, who has also been an avid #FreeBritney supporter. Britney is looking to discuss her life in the conservatorship and the issues she faces with Oprah in a similar style to the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle interview. “Britney has been approached by lots of outlets to do a sit down, but Oprah would be her first choice,” her lawyer stated. Certain legal steps are still in place before Britney can discuss her conservatorship battle in detail. She has been open on social media about where she stands with her confidence (which seems to have shot up since her father agreed to step down) and how she feels about certain subjects. She was not able to post freely on her social media before she began the battle to free herself from her conservatorship.

Britney took to Instagram to share some words of wisdom with her 33.4 million followers. “Sometimes self-care is the simple act of doing nothing.” She appeared to be celebrating the recent changes to her 13-year conservatorship. Britney then went to instagram a few days later and addressed some rumours about herself. Spears shared a topless photo and cleared the air about her pregnancy and plastic surgery rumors. In the caption, “No guys I didn’t get a boob job in just a week, nor am I pregnant. I have boobs in these pics cause I devoured food. Before I show you more pics of my body I want you to understand my thoughts on exposing my skin.” She added, ” In my opinion, it’s quite twisted the immediate response of when any woman is hot and they want to shed a layer… no … I’m not talking in a strip club or a performance… just on a practical scale of being in your car and realizing you’re wearing a stupid long sleeve shirt in the summer.” The pop sensation also spoke about the Free Britney movement started by fans and wrote, “And I will admit the FREE BRITNEY comments after I took my shirt off were actually really funny !!! The Free Britney campaign started with all your amazing pink Free Britney shirts 3 years ago !!! There’s a way deeper meaning to the movement than you can ever imagine … My fans have always been so damn amazing and I love you all !!!!”
Britney’s future freedom definitely seems brighter and cause for celebration. Millions of people across the globe have stood with Britney and the #FreeBritney movement whether they were fans or not. Britney has had the power to affect people across the globe who look up to her and listen to her music. She is an entertainer by nature but deserves to pick and choose when she wants to entertain just be Britney. She doesn’t deserve to be forced to work crazy hours or schedules. She doesn’t deserve to be forced into therapy three times a week. She, like any other American, deserves the power to choose what she wants to do with her life.
