In the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 2, Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire. A child has been hospitalized with life threatening injuries. One station says the child is a 6 year old boy but no official announcement has been made about the age or condition of the child by the fire department.

Four residents were displaced by the fire. The structure was a townhome with other adjacent structures. The townhome was located on the 2000 block of South Paris Way, near South Peoria Street and East Jewell Avenue, in the Village East neighborhood.

Aurora Fire Rescue was notified of the fire around 12:30 AM Wednesday, the department said in a tweet. By 5:55 AM, the department tweeted the fire was under control and did not impact adjacent units significantly. A later update said, most of the crews were gone by 4 AM. Fire investigators are still attempting to determine the cause of the fire.
