Texas Governor Border Crisis

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has used a number of state-owned vehicles to line up for miles as a barricade along the border. Governor Abbott insisted Texas was taking “unprecedented steps,” to find a way to fix the ongoing border crisis. Abbott has had national attention in recent weeks for his signing of abortion restrictions. Governor Abbott has also been vocal in his criticism of the Biden administration. “The Texas Department of Public Safety stepped up,” he said, adding “if President Joe Biden followed a judge’s order to reimplement the Trump-era “remain in Mexico” protocols, there wouldn’t be chaos in Del Rio. Because the Biden administration has been promoting and allowing open border policies, it has been the state of Texas that had to step up,” Abbott said Tuesday during a Del Rio news conference with local officials, including Del Rio Mayor Bruno Lozano.

Governor Abbott has been a longtime supporter of building a border wall in Texas. He has attempted to gain approval from private landowners to construct a wall. In recent days, Governor Abbott has directed hundreds of state Department of Public Safety vehicles to create a “steel wall” to block illegal immigrants from entering Texas. The “steel wall” of cars is only one of the most recent examples of how severe the immigration crisis is unfolding in Del Rio, Texas. “We put hundreds of Texas Department of Public Safety cars and created a steel wall of DPS vehicles that prevented anybody from crossing that dam that you’ve seen people walk across,” Governor Abbott told Fox News in an interview. Abbott added the cars prevented people from “walking into the state of Texas.”

Texas Governor Border Stance

The move from the Texas governor comes during the most recent development in the immigration crisis as mostly Haitian nationals are attempting to make their way to the southern border of the U.S. after political turmoil and a natural disaster has shaken their home country. The migrants have created a makeshift camp at the border under a bridge near Del Rio, Texas.  The immigration crisis has been getting worse over the past few months. This will not be the last wave of people to attempt to come into the country illegally. What is the Biden administration going to do about it? What will the leaders of this country do to solve this ongoing issue?
